When my friend Jose Villa asked me to be a part of this charity website, benefiting baby Jackson, I had to say yes. Here is a little bit about this project:
Jackson's Smile is where photography and compassion meet.
Jackson's smile wasn't free like most little boys. He was born with a rare syndrome called “Simpson Golabi Behmel” as well as a cleft lip and palate. His smile has cost hundreds of thousands of dollars thus far. Jackson has already had two major surgeries in just his first year of life. He is destined for a childhood of plastic surgeries, not to mention other surgeries to address the various anomalies associated with his extremely rare syndrome.
His parents, Daniel and Halle, are doing all they can to provide Jackson with a healthy life. Without insurance and financial gifts from others, Jackson's medical expenses would total close to one million dollars by now, just so he can eat, drink, and smile. Simple gifts that most of us take too much for granted.
Jackson's Smile is a coalition of photographic artists dedicated to giving baby Jackson and others like him some of our most precious resources; our time, our money, and our talent.
Photography has been making people smile for over a hundred years. This is our opportunity to give Jackson the gift of his smile, and to receive a piece of photographic art so we too can remember just how much of a gift our smile is every time we look at it.
*A portion of the proceeds will go directly to support more kids like Jackson at the Craniofacial Center at the {Children’s Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas}.

These were all taken on b&w film with my beloved Holga camera on my travels through the U.S., England, Australia, Mexico and The Philippines.
